The Plaza of Spain in Adeje has been chosen as a finalist of the fifth edition of the World Architecture Festival to be held in Singapore in October.
The project of the Plaza of Spain in Adeje, by the Canarian Architect Fernando Menis, has been chosen as a finalist of the fifth edition of the Awards of the World Architecture Festival (WAF) in the categoryNew and Old. This festival is the most important in his field and is a showcase of architectural excellence in the world. Will take place from 3 to 5 October in Singapore and will be attended by over 8,000 professionals.
Menis Arquitectos carried out the remodeling and expansion of the Plaza of Spain in Adeje, home of the Sacred Museum, a viewpoint and municipal offices. With this refurbishment the plaza surface was increased in two and a half times more than the initial, generating two spaces: a permanent stage and a low area, opening to the “Barranco del Infierno” ravine. The work has generated new areas of leisure and recreation for the town, respecting the history of the place.
This architectural intervention of the Plaza of Spain in Adeje was also a finalist of the European Awards for Urban Public Space, because it is a contemporary example of intervention in a historical area. In this occasion competes for the WAF Awards with projects from ten other countries such as China, United States, Australia, UK, Estonia, Switzerland, Singapore, Slovenia, New Zealand and Canada.
