I THE ROOTS OF A METHOD

The main purpose of these reflections is to provide a method of working to develop an architectural project. Assuming that there are numerous ways of approaching a project: from the extreme functionality, from a formalist perspective, conceiving the details as divine presences, interpreting the environment, influenced by certain trends, works or architects, can expand on this list as we wanted.
This document brings us to one of these forms of work I’ve been learning, developing and perfecting throughout my career. Such way of approach an architectural design is based on two pillars that support the project in an ongoing mutual dialogue, REASON & EMOTION.
We understand EMOTION as essential contents and immaterial of the Architecture: the teluric worlds we dream and investigate belong to a prior state to the existence of architecture itself, in a time when it was created by nature.
But there is not enough to dream, especially since the architecture is matter, a physical object with a given location. The REASON is based on a scrupulous attention to structural and economic conditions that the architecture is capable of being inserted correctly in a context and stay there. For that reason, we must also focus on reviving the latent forces at the sites. This became possible by reusing those objects, energies or concepts that have been discarded for specific reasons, always looking for a rereading or reinterpretation in the special experience that is every project.
Thanks to the constant interplay between REASON & EMOTION, the built object becomes a living entity that evolves over time. It is not intended as a mechanism resulting from the mere addition of simple autonomous elements, but as a model organism, extracted directly from the amorphous material, which the architect must learn to value.
